If you follow or have followed a second Bachelor programme at Erasmus University Rotterdam - or at another university - it is possible to apply for a (partial or full) exemption from the bachelor 'Elective space'. You must have earned sufficient credits on account of the second bachelor programme and must meet the following conditions.

Conditions

  1. 1. The course must be part of an accredited programme at a Dutch university or a foreign research-driven university;
  2. 2. The course must have a level equivalent to the courses of the RSM programme;
  3. 3. In terms of content, skills, attitude and testing, the course must sufficiently fit the specified exit qualifications for the RSM programme;
  4. 4. The course must have added value for the programme, which is why there should not be too much overlap with mandatory parts of the RSM programme concerned;

Exemptions towards the master phase will not be granted. This means that it is not possible to apply for an exemption from the Master Free Elective space.

Registration in Osiris

An exemption will not affect the GPA, as it is recorded as a non-numeric result: "VR" (in Dutch) or "Exempt" (in English).

Application Procedure

You can submit your request via Osiris Case in Osiris Student. You need to choose the request type "RSM BSc Elective Space" and indicate that you are requesting an approval for an exemption for the elective space based on a second bachelor programme.

Special rules for Double Degree Recht & Bedrijfskunde students

If you are a student of the Double Degree programme Recht & Bedrijfskunde, you first need to obtain all 60 study credits of the 1st year of the bachelor programme Rechtsgeleerdheid or Fiscaal Recht at Erasmus School of Law before you can apply for an exemption from the B3 Elective Space. See Bijlage OER BScBA 2024-2025 – Dubbelstudie Recht en Bedrijfskunde, paragraph 3, 1b.

Special rules for Double Degree with Philosophy students

If you are a student of the Double Degree Bedrijfskunde/IBA and Philosophy programme you have the possibility to use the Philosophy minor (15 EC) for both the Bachelor at RSM and the Philosophy programme. The grade for the obtained minor is registered in Osiris and counts towards your GPA.

You can also apply for an exemption from the remaining 15 EC of the B3 Elective Space on the basis of the other obtained courses in the Philosophy programme via Osiris Case. The exemption does not affect your GPA - as opposed to the minor - as it is recorded as a non-numeric result: "VR" (in Dutch) or "Exempt" (in English).

See the Appendix Double Degree in IBA and Philosophy of the TER IBA 2024-2025.
